I am Jean Potuchek, a sociologist by profession and an amateur gardener by avocation.  I do most of my gardening in East Poland, Maine (a few miles north of the more famous Poland Spring), on the border of USDA zones 4 and 5.  I also have a small garden in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania (zone 6) where I teach and rent a townhouse, and that garden will occasionally feature in this blog.

I am neither a professional horticulturalist nor a certified master gardener, so this blog is not intended to offer expert advice. Rather, Jean’s Garden provides a passionate gardener’s reflections on her garden and on her gardening experiences.
